Brookmont Church

All Are Welcome

Brookmont Church is an interfaith church serving the West Bethesda neighborhood of Brookmont and nearby communities. Our mission is to serve as a spiritual center for neighbors of all faiths and religious traditions. All are welcome here! If you're new to the community, seeking an alternative to denominational worship, or looking for a kind, inclusive spiritual tradition for children, please join us for our Sunday services and other events.

Worship Services

5:30 PM SUNDAYS: Interfaith service, Roxanne Schueller, celebrant. These short evening services follow the seasonal rhythms of the natural and liturgical year. They focus on weekly themes drawn from a variety of religious traditions worldwide. Each service features vibrant music, community participation, and spiritual inspiration.

SPECIAL SERVICES: Our Thanksgiving and Christmas services have become a joyous neighborhood tradition in Brookmont that spans generations. Special services also commemorate Passover, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, and other important occasions.

PRIVATE SERVICES: Brookmont families gather at the church for weddings, memorial services, baptisms, bar and bat mitzvahs, anniversaries, and times of remembrance. Please contact us to reserve the Church for your special ceremony.

The heart of all our services is welcome, inclusion, spiritual connection, and gathering together as a community with our neighbors and friends.

Community Service, Classes, and Events

At the core of the Church's mission is serving as Brookmont's spiritual hub and energy center ~ the place where neighbors come together for occasions great and small, creating an authentic sense of small-town community that is all too rare in the sprawling suburbs of our Nation's Capital. There is always something going on here! Please drop by for a visit or contact us for more information.

PRESCHOOL. Brookmont Church is proud to be the longtime home to the Brookmont Children's Program preschool.

CHARITABLE OUTREACH. The Church sponsors regular donations, food and clothing drives, and other assistance to So Others Might Eat, Manna Food Center, the Glen Echo Fire Department, and other groups in need, across town or around the world. A popular Christmastime tradition is our annual Gift Tree on the village green where neighbors draw names to provide toys for local children in need.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP. Brookmont Church has been a regional leader in showcasing conservation landscaping, native plant restoration, rainscaping, and habitat creation. Our sustainability initiatives won recognition from the County in the form of a grant to further our efforts. The Church also participates with other congregations in an interfaith environmental alliance.

CLASSES, COMMUNITY GROUPS, AND GATHERINGS. The Church regularly hosts yoga classes, children's dance and art classes, play groups, scout meetings, civic and environmental group meetings, and charitable fundraisers. Some of our popular recent events have included concerts, pot-luck dinners, readings by local authors, green-technology demonstrations, exhibitions by local artists, and holiday plays. The Church social hall is also available for private parties and events. A financial contribution to the Church is requested.

Membership and Contact

Membership in Brookmont Church is open to all Brookmont residents and friends. Though donations are always welcome, no financial commitment is required of members. All Church activities and facilities are open to members and non-members alike.
